Professional Experience

Mr. Freund studied general engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and received a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Business Systems Integration and Consulting in 2001.

After graduating from the University of Illinois, Mr. Freund attended the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, on a Dean’s Scholarship and was awarded a Juris Doctor with a Certificate of Specialization in General Intellectual Property Law in May 2004. During his studies at DePaul, he clerked at the firm beginning in 2002.

Mr. Freund is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, and is admitted before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney.

Mr. Freund has gained experience in license and agreement preparation, litigation, copyright matters, trademark clearance and prosecution, patent prosecution, and validity and infringement analyses. His patent prosecution practice specializes in the analysis, patenting and prosecution of medical and biomedical devices and equipment with additional emphasis on blood processing devices, anesthetic vaporizers, implantable medical devices and drug delivery systems.
