Professional Experience

Joseph Freund (born 1980) studied general engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and received a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a specialization in Business Systems Integration and Consulting in 2001.

After graduating from the University of Illinois, Mr. Freund attended the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL on a Dean’s Scholarship and was awarded a Juris Doctor with a certificate of specialization in General Intellectual Property Law in May 2004. During his studies at DePaul, Mr. Freund clerked at the firm beginning in 2002. In February 2004, he was admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent agent.

Mr. Freund is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, and is admitted before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Mr. Freund has gained experience in license and agreement preparation; litigation; U.S. copyright, patent, and trademark prosecution matters; and patent validity and infringement analyses.
