Michael J. McGee

October 19, 1970 - August 31, 2010

Michael J. McGee, our partner, friend, and colleague for nearly 15 years, passed away on August 31, 2010 after a lengthy battle against cancer.

He is survived by his wife Anastasia (Stacey), his son Hayden, his parents, sister, and close family and friends, including his Cook Alex family.

Mike was originally from Tarpon Springs, Florida. Mike studied electrical engineering at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 and a Master of Science degree in 1994. He was a Staff Editor for the Law Review of John Marshall Law School in Chicago and was awarded his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 1997. Mike became a partner at Cook Alex in 2003, having received most of his legal experience with our firm.

Mike specialized in patent and trademark procurement, litigation, licensing and counseling matters, copyright law, and related unfair competition matters, and was dedicated to protecting the intellectual property rights of all those he served.

Mike has always shown tremendous courage, wit, dedication and integrity and it was our privilege and honor to have known and worked with Mike over the years.
