After graduation from the Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. Riess joined a predecessor law firm of what is now Banner & Witcoff in 1967, specializing in intellectual property law matters.  Mr. Riess was with that firm until 1981 when he joined a predecessor to what is now the present firm, continuing to specialize in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret law and related unfair competition and antitrust matters.

With more than 40 years of experience in the field, Mr. Riess’ practice has spanned a full range of intellectual property law matters.  He has extensive experience in patent litigation matters, patent validity and infringement analysis, patent prosecution, license and agreement preparation, trademark clearance and registration, copyright matters and general client counseling.  He represents a wide variety of clients which include established as well as start-up business clients in a range of technical fields.
