Professional Experience
Mr. Smalley studied both computer engineering and mathematics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Vanderbilt, Mr. Smalley was awarded the William H. Rowen Scholarship and was elected to the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. Mr. Smalley graduated summa cum laude in 2002 and received a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Mr. Smalley attended the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois and was awarded a Juris Doctor with a certificate of specialization in General Intellectual Property Law in May 2005. During his studies at DePaul, Mr. Smalley clerked at the firm beginning in 2003. He joined the firm as an associate in 2005.
Mr. Smalley has gained experience in license and agreement preparation, litigation, U.S. copyright, patent, and trademark prosecution matters, and patent validity and infringement analyses.
