Professional ExperienceDr. Spann received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Davis in 1982, and a Doctorate in Biology from the University of California at San Diego in 1991. He received his post-doctoral training in Cell and Molecular Biology at Rice University, and received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2006. Before attending law school, he was an Assistant Research Professor at Northwestern University Medical School in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology. Dr. Spann’s fields of expertise include regulation of the cell cycle and cell differentiation, regulation of DNA synthesis and transcription control. He has extensive experience in cloning, protein expression, protein purification, protein and DNA detection techniques, antisense technology, development of cell free assays for transcription and DNA replication, microinjection of cells and embryos, antibody production, fluorescence microscopy, and live cell observation.
