After his graduation from Northwestern University School of Law, Mr. McFarron joined the firm of Fitch, Even, Tabin & Luedeka in Chicago, specializing in intellectual property law matters. He also served as Division Patent Counsel for Travenol Laboratories, Inc. (now Baxter Healthcare Corporation) in Deerfield, Illinois. Mr. McFarron has been with the present firm or a predecessor since 1979, specializing in patent, trademark, and copyright law and related unfair competition and antitrust matters.
Mr. McFarron’s legal practice has involved a broad spectrum of intellectual property law matters. Much of his practice has been devoted to general counseling and has included due diligence investigations, patent validity and infringement opinions, patent prosecution, licensing and other agreements, trademark clearance and registration, copyright matters, and general client counseling. For many years, much of his practice involved intellectual property litigation on behalf of Fortune 500 companies. He has served as an arbitrator in intellectual property cases for the American Arbitration Association and has lectured before various engineering societies on intellectual property law matters. He represents a variety of clients, but focuses principally on representing established and start-up corporate clients.
