Mr. Alex has over 40 years experience and is a senior partner of the firm. He graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He then joined the firm of Hill, Sherman, Meroni, Gross and Simpson and, in 1963, the firm of Dawson, Tilton, Fallon, Lungmus and Alexander, both of which were located in Chicago and specialized in intellectual property law matters. In 1964, he joined the firm of Griest, Lockwood, Greenawalt and Dewey, a predecessor of the present firm, specializing during that time in patent, trademark and copyright law, and related unfair competition and antitrust matters.
Mr. Alex’s many years of practice have involved a wide variety of domestic and international intellectual property matters. Mr. Alex has in-depth experience and primary responsibility in patent, trademark and copyright litigation matters at the trial and appellate level, patent validity and infringement evaluations and opinions, the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patent interferences, intellectual property licensing, trademark and copyright procurement and enforcement, as well as intellectual property counseling. In addition, Mr. Alex has been engaged as an expert witness in numerous patent litigations (mechanical, chemical and related arts).
