Michael Kyle is patent attorney with Cook Alex and has over 12 years of experience in private practice. Mike has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the US and abroad, primarily in mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, including automotive and construction equipment, medical devices, manufacturing equipment, software-controlled devices/machinery and consumer electronics.

Mike’s practice also includes global patent portfolio management, patent validity, infringement, and freedom to operate opinions, due diligence, and client counseling. Mike volunteers with a local hard tech incubator to mentor early-stage startups with IP concerns and provides IP training targeted to technical (non-lawyer) audiences.

Mike started his career as a patent examiner with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Mike graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and attended law school at the Catholic University of America – Columbus School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2009.

Mike is licensed to practice in Illinois and in front of the USPTO.
